Kameraphoto was founded in January 2003 as the end of a process that brought together a diversified group of photographers. It sprouted from the necessity of creating, in Portugal, a structure that pushes forward, promotes and represents the work of freelance photographers.This group incentivates photographers to produce indepth stories and protect their rights as independent authors and creators.
This collective is also a forum for debating ideas, and creating individual and group projects.From 2005 Kameraphoto took further the commitment to photographic culture by oppening up a public space dedicated to photographic exhibitions: K-Galeria, in the heart of the city of Lisbon.
From the first day, Kameraphoto has been open to photographers whose work proves a high degree of commitment to their choose themes. Kameraphoto wants to embrace different percepcions of the world and different ways of people to express those perceptions through photography.
Rather than trying to explain or be narrative the Kameraphoto collective wants to question the world through pictures.
